Jené Kapela, Ph.D.

Jené understands the importance of strong, confident leaders. As a visionary leader and strategic change agent, her purpose is to develop talented work-forces that strengthen organizations. She has collaborated with NLI since 2019.

Jené is President and Founder of Kapela Leadership Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in leadership training and organizational effectiveness. Through a realistic approach to leadership development, Jené provides individuals with the tools to leverage their natural talents to become strong leaders. This results in happier, more successful people, able to contribute their highest potential to the organizations where they work.

Through Kapela Leadership Solutions, Jené works with companies on leadership training and employee engagement, coaching and consulting, strategic planning, and new employee training and orientation curriculum design, as well as developing and facilitating board retreats. Jené has been successful working with a broad range of industries.

A certified MBTI (Myers-Briggs) practitioner and strengths educator, Jené has been quoted as an expert by Forbes, Fast Company, Mashable, Monster, Business News Daily, Women’s Day, and more. She holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, received her Master’s Degree in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership from the College of William and Mary, and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Hollins University. She was recognized as a 2010 Leadership Broward Foundation Fun Lunch Honoree for her service to the organization and community and a 2014 Lifestyle Media Group Up and Comer Finalist for her dedication and leadership to her occupation and community. Prior to founding Kapela Leadership Solutions, Jené worked for over 12 years in the higher education and nonprofit sectors.

Along with her passion for leadership development, Jené is also passionate about community involvement and is very active in the South Florida community. She is a founding program co-chair and past executive committee member of Emerge Broward, a program of the Leadership Broward Foundation, and a founding steering committee member and past steering committee co-chair of the Ghost Light Society, a young patrons’ group supporting the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. She is a previous Co-Chair of the Women Leading Broward program and previous Chair of Youth Leadership Broward Class XXIX.

Currently, Jené is a Board Member with PACE Center for Girls Broward and co-chair of their annual Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Brunch, and she serves as a Guardian ad Litem providing support to youth in the foster care system. Jené is a graduate of Leadership Broward Class XXX and a past member of the Leadership Broward Foundation Board of Directors.
